At twelve years old I decided to become an architect. Architecture has been the work of my life. For decades I have designed residences, commercial, civic and medical buildings throughout the United States. Each project has deepened my understanding of how architecture shapes the way we live, work and gather. Today my practice is devoted exclusively to custom residential architecture in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. 

Every home should emerge from its natural setting. The character of the land, the movement of the sun, distant views, native materials, and the rhythms of daily life all influence the design. I have no predetermined style as you will see in my portfolio. I seek to create homes that feel timelesss, as though they have always belonged to their place.

Natural light is one of architecture’s most powerful elements. Light gives life to rooms, reveals textures, creates shadows, frames views, and makes spaces warm and inviting. Connecting the home to the land, to the sun, to the views of mountains and desert creates a place where families connect to the changing seasons and the hourly changing weather of New Mexico.

Homes should have a sense of surprise. The view in every direction should be guided so that one sees something unexpected. A home should be revealed in stages, not all at once, like a person you only get to know slowly and with attention. Architecture is both material and spiritual. The materials of the house, their joinery, color and texture create a physical beauty. But the house must also have some indefinable quality that makes you want to be there.

Years of experience designing complex buildings have given me a broad technical foundation of systems, structure, materials, and construction detailing. I bring that same level of design knowledge and discipline to every custom home.

Designing a home is a deeply personal collaboration, built on trust, careful listening and shared purpose. My role is to understand how my clients wish to live, and transform those aspirations into architecture that is both practical and uplifting. The result is a home that reflects the personalities of its owners, responds to its environment, meets the needs of budget and schedule, and enriches the lives of its residents. 

The best design is the one where nothing more needs to be added, and nothing more needs to be taken away.
